I get asked this question all the time when valuing clients properties , and I do personally think is more positive than negative; it’s still a useful marketing tool and an excellent way of gaining exposure.
It reveals your intention to sell and attracts attention to your property from passers-by, it’s also useful from a word of mouth perspective, particularly if you live in a relatively small area.
Many buyers will go during week ends searching for FOR SALE signs on their favourite locations.
Even your neighbours, could be interested for their friends or relatives.
I can only see a negative aspect in having it, and this is when there are too many for sale boards in a certain area, it will not only ruin the aspect of the surroundings , but could cause worriedness on buyers , without a need; this is when us as realtors, should be sensible and care about it; just using them on certain strategic points.
